LIVE BRIEFS - RAVENSBOURNE

Group - Tom, Callum, Toby

For this brief, we were asked to create a video to promote our course. As our course is changing, from Digital advertising and design to Advertising and branding we need a new promotional video to attract students to pick the course. It has to be funny, light-hearted and something that would appeal to a 16-18-year-old picking a course.

For the research for this brief was a little different to the others as we had been in the exact same position as the target audience. We had searched and applied for the exact course so we knew how we should approach it and what content we wanted in our video. Our initial ideas were to use the lift at ravensbourne to connote an 'elevator pitch' we talked through our ideas and after talking with Brian and Xavi we decided to go with a rap, something quite daring and different and something we knew would certainly catch peoples attention.

'Ad rap' a rap based on the Advertising and Brand Design course. A rap in the style of hip-hop artists filmed in a similar style to a real music video. I with this brief we found it rather difficult with our idea and the time we had to produce, film and edit it in as we found the initial ideas the most time consuming which left us with little time for creating the content something which I definitely learnt from.

Pitch

Our pitch went well and we had a good reaction from the rest of the class however we knew it wasnt the best quality video and the lyrics was what was letting us down. Our feedback was that we were very brave and daring in what we did however were off brief with the lyrics which I agree with. Over all I am glad we went ahead with the rap as it is something no body else did and it was fun to have free reign over our idea for this brief .
